Bailiff Comments

Week Commencing: Sat 11/05/2013

With news of the first captures coming from the bottom last week, the guys were very keen to give the new Hybrid bait a go that we supply here at Gigantica, the bailiffs advice was strongly to keep with the zigs as the fish off the bottom were from shallower areas.

The majority decided to fish on the bottom and have just 1 on a zig, it was a very slow start and it took until Tuesday for the first fish to be landed by Barty the bailiff on an 18ft zig weighing in at 26lb+ from the Alamo. With this news spreading around the pond a few more zigs were put out.

Wednesday morning the action moved round to Scotties corner with Radek who made the long trip from the Czech Republic landing a lovely 55lb mirror on a 10inch zig.

Wednesday night and 5mins after Barty put a 16ft zig out it ripped off resulting in a fish known as Alcatraz at 41lb 12oz (if Carlsberg made bailiffs), and on Thursday night lightning struck twice and by some miracle Barty had another one on the 16ft zig a stunning mirror of 17lb.

Early hours of Saturday morning and Rich in the big girls swim managed a 17lb mirror of the bottom over his baited area, and also Josh had a 20lb mirror from Alcatraz fishing an 18ft zig.

The fish are starting to get down on the bottom now but I don’t believe they are spending that much time down there so I strongly recommend sticking with the zigs for coming weeks.

It’s rained for 40 days and 40 nights even Noah has brought his WELLIES! ALL swims will need wellies or thigh waders to access the front!!!! Please bring some as the shops are running out here!

Be lucky,

Mike
