Week Commencing: Sat 25/05/2013
Water Temperature 14 degrees
This week’s guys had a wager on for the biggest fish and the most fish so were very keen to get their hands on the prize, the draw was out the way and it was Dan who was last out the bag in “big girls” to have the first fish just minutes after getting his rods out in the shape of a stunning 29lb mirror, by dinner time on the Saturday he had also lost one so was very confident that the fish would stay in his area.
Unfortunately with the brilliant start, the fishing slowed right down for the rest of the week, zigs were used all over the pond at a range of depths and colours but no fish were found, the bait started to be introduced to areas but it just doesn’t seem like the fish want to be down there on the bottom.
Friday morning I got a call from Dan in “big girls” saying he has a lump in the net, this lovely carp is known as “the big leather” and weighed in at 51lb.
Matt who was fishing in “Alcatraz” all week had been putting a bit of bait in “oblivion” where he had seen fish crashing just off the point, on Friday morning with a lot of activity over this area Matt moved in and within seconds of the rods being out landed a mirror of 18lb.
With no further action the prize money was all Dan’s for the biggest and the most fish landed.
The weather is starting to look good with the forecast set for some sun so hopefully the water temperature should start to rise to a more suitable temperature for this time of year. The swims are still FLOODED so please bring wellies or waders to access the front!
Be Lucky,
Mike
