Week Commencing: Sat 19/07/2014

Well would you believe we are well over half way through the year already, how time flies.

The weather is still so unpredictable, one day its 30 degrease and sunny the next its 16 degrease and raining leaving the fish not really knowing if there coming or going and this week was no different.  With a few regular visitors hear this week the spirits where high and the banter was flowing.

First off the mark was Mike in The Alamo with a 37lb Mirror.  Which was then followed by a 42lb 2oz mirror and then ‘The Giggler’ at 52lb 4oz, a truly awesome fish and one I would love to catch myself someday.

Mike fished at 28 wraps towards Baxter’s and The Beach baiting everyday just before dinner with a combination of hemp, tigers and a few kilo of Mainline Hybrid for his three fish catch.  All caught Using a Banoffee Wafter and the IQ D rig.

Back for his second trip this year, Tran decided to fish Big Southerly fishing at just 16.5 wraps towards the lodge Tran managed three fish, the best a 33lb common.  This was then followed up with two mirrors of 32lb 2oz and a 27lb 8oz.  Tran fished all 3 rods on one spot and baited little and often for his three fish.

Fishing in the ever-popular Co’s Point we had Jamie.  After losing a couple of early fish Jamie still plodded on and continued to fish well and was determined not to let the Gigantica carp get the better of him.  A take early Wednesday morning and after some advice from us Jamie had his reward in the net, a solid mirror that weighed 50lb exactly which made the losing the others a little sweeter.

Jamie then went on to bank another two fish weighing 30lb 8oz and 23lb both mirrors.  Rig wise the IQ D rig and Banoffee wafters doing the damage.  Jamie baited with around 25kg of Hybrid boilies as well as a few tigers throughout the week.

Well that’s it for another week out here at the Big ‘G’, hopefully this weather settles down soon and the carp really get their heads down as Autumn isn’t to far away now.

See you soon
