Week Commencing: Sat 20/09/2014

This week we had eight new anglers arriving at the Big G, as well as Bob and Barry who where going into their second week.

After another slow start Sam in The Beach was first off the mark on Wednesday morning at 7am with an impressive fish that goes by the name of Danish Bacon at 56lb.  Fished at 20 wraps towards The Alamo and baited with a mixture of boilie and tiger nuts, 3kg in total.  Then on Thursday morning Sam had another take this time a 31lb mirror.  Then in the early hours of Friday morning Sam had his third take of the week this time a linear weighing 34lb 4oz.

Fishing in Co’s Point we had Gary.  Gary Fished at 28 Wraps towards the bald spot and caught a stunning mirror weighing 35lb.  A fish that isn’t in our Database and what a result, well done sir.

In Alcatraz this week we had Chris who was back out for his second visit in six weeks, he was determined not to let the Gigantica carp get the better of him this time.  It took until early Thursday morning for Chris to land his first Gigantica carp, a reward for his efforts a 44lb carp known as the Godfather of Sole.  Chris fished at 31 wraps towards The Stink and baited up with a mixture of Cell and Hybrid boilies and fished a chod rig over the top.

Fishing in Pole Position for his second week was Bob.  It took until the very last knockings for Bob to receive a take and a fish that is worth any wait was his reward.  The Cheese at 40lb is a truly stunning fish and is defiantly amongst the A team for looks.  Bob fished again at 28 wraps to the right of The Stink, what a stunning fish.

The carp seemed to be more active going into Saturday morning and at first light Alan in Baxters received a slow steady take.  A mint common of 41lb was well deserved as he never gave up and fished well until the end.  Fishing at 21 wraps towards The Stink and baiting with a mixture of Hybrid and tiger nuts, well-deserved mate.

As Saturday morning came so did the end of Mike’s time at Gigantica.  Mike is moving on to pastures knew and a new life back in England with his girlfriend.  I must say it was a bit of a low feeling seeing him leave for the last time.  Having worked with him for the past five months spending everyday with him now not seeing him around is going to be hard.  I just want to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he’s done for me at the start of my time here at Gigantica and to wish him all the very best in the future.

Until next time all the best
