Bailiff Comments

Week Commencing: Sat 22/11/2014

Water temperature was a steady 11 degrees all week; weather was sunny and over cast, rained Wednesday night and most of Thursday, day time temperature was 14 degrees going down to 6 degrees at night.

Fishing has been very slow all week, apart from Wednesday morning when Buzz the bailiff had a take from his right hand road, which was fishing along the stock pond margin at 13-rod lengths.  He had a nice plated mirror called Scale Perfect at 39lb.  Buzz was using Korda slow sinking maize soaked in Pineapple Supreme Goo on a fluorocarbon D rig hook link with a size 4 Kaptor Kurv hook.

At the same time Norman in The Alamo had a take on his left hand rod, Steve and Buzz could see this so they both went round there to help.  Just as they got there Stuart was with the landing net ready to land Normans fish, but as soon as they pulled up the fish had come off at the net.  Norman was so gutted, he was fishing at 17 rod lengths towards the lodge on the opposite bank on a clear area in 25ft of water.   Norman was using Gigantica Banoffee wafters fished over a bed of Mainline Hybrid boilies.

Early Thursday morning, Pete who was fishing in the Tree Line was the next angler to have a bite, but unfortunately lost it due to a hook pull at around 5.30 am.  The bite came from tight to the trees at 17 rod lengths.  Fishing a double tiger nut hookbait over a handful of his own boilies and a few tiger nuts.

It has been tough at Gigantica this week with the weather turning colder and the wind blowing from the east making the fishing harder for this time of year.   There has been fish showing all over the lake but they don’t seem to be interested in feeding at the moment, its just a waiting game.

Another great bunch of lads this week, and it’s been very hard.  They say that The weather is getting colder for next week, going down to 0 degrees.  Has winter finally arrived?

Hope to see you all again soon,

Tight lines Steve and Buzz
