Week Commencing: Sat 22/08/2015

Know sooner has one week ended another begins. Eight new hopeful anglers descended upon us here on The Big G. This week was a week of regulars back again for another crack and to try out fool some of the Gigantica residence.

Weather for the week was again warm with a maximum temperature of thirty-seven degrees was recorded Tuesday afternoon.  A rather aggressive storm followed this going into Tuesday evening with heavy rain and strong Westerly winds.

Chris Clark in Pole Position was first of the mark on Monday morning, fishing at 31RL towards The Alamo. A strong spirited battle and a few hairy moments and a big angry looking mirror was landed ironically a fish called Mr. Angry and it went 60lb 8oz on the scales. A new PB for Chris and what a start. Chris was fishing a double tiger nut hookbait on an IQ D rig over 6kg of boilie and a few handfuls of tigers.

Back again and doubling up with a long term regular Dave Pennicote in the Alamo we had Simon Lessing Wednesday morning Simon received a take from the left hand side of the swim fishing at 15RL towards the Lodge. After a short spirited battle he soon landed his prize a fish that goes by the name of 2 C’s weighing 41lb. Simon fished a simple eight inch knotless knot rig tied up on Hybrid Soft and a size 4 Wide Gape hook, simple but very affective. Fishing over around 3kg of boilies Simon fished simple bottom bait straight out the bag with a three-bait stringer.

Wednesday night was one to forget for Dave (also in The Alamo) as he unfortunately lost two fish due to hook pulls. But a credit to Dave he kept positive but unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be and we know he will come back and soon be back amongst them on his next trip, You just cant keep a good angler down.

After working hard all week Geoff Maskall in The Stink was rewarded for his efforts Thursday morning when he landed Snags Linear at 43lb 14oz a new PB and a credit for his work. Geoff fished again a double tiger nut hookbait over a bed of boilie and tigers at 30RL towards the Beach.

Last knockings Saturday morning Simon in The Alamo was in and soon landed a 22lb mirror again on his 15RL spot towards the lodge but this time on our very own Banoffee Wafter.

A special mention must go to Gaz, Jack and Dave who fished in Alcatraz, The Beach and The Tree Line respectively, All three worked hard all week and really didn’t have the carp gods on their side. The fish simply didn’t turn up on them and I have know doubt they would have if they did, all good anglers who will be back and with different fortunes will get amongst them I'm sure.

See you all soon.
