Week Commencing: Sat 25/06/2016

At last the weather has turned, NO RAIN !! it was overcast for most of the week and with a strong westerly wind it looked good for a few bites, the day time temperature was around 22 degrees going down to 12 degrees at night, and the lake temperature was 20 degrees.

On the Main Lake this week we had seven lads from Hereford, on there yearly trip hoping to catch some of these Gigantica carp.

Neil Vaughan decided to set up in The Alamo, after plumbing around with his marker rod he found a nice clear area at 20 wrap in-line with the Beach swim, he baited up the spot with three kilos of Mainline Cell boilies, then on Sunday morning he was into his first fish of the week a cracking 37lb mirror called The Resident, he was using the IQ D Rig with a Mainline Cell wafter which was soaked in Pineapple goo, the next morning Neil was in again, this time a 24lb mirror, over the week Neil used twenty kilos of boilies.

Josh Cook was set up in Co’s Point, he decided to fish all three rods on a clear area that he had fished before at 28 wraps in-line with the two round trees on the far bank, he started of by putting out five kilos of Mainline Cell Boilies, it wasn’t long before Josh was into his first Gigantica carp, a cracking 32lb mirror known as Two Faces, the next morning he had a double take, after a tough battle he lands a 28lb mirror and a beautiful 33lb common called Wrap Around. Josh was using the IQ D rig with a size 4 Korda curv hook and a Gigantica Banoffee Wafter as his hook bait, after every fish he would spod out two kilos of boilies over the spot, the next carp to grace the bank was Herbert which went 36lb, then on the last morning he lands Billys Pretty One at 25lb, over the week josh used 30kg of boilies.

Will Watts the only angler not from Hereford, was set up in Big Girls, he was fishing all three rods over to the the far margin, Will was into his first Gigantica carp on Tuesday morning a cracking 38lb mirror called Stonecres, the next carp to grace the bank was The Nude fish which went 45lb 8oz,after every fish Will would bait up with his throwing stick, topping his spot up with a couple kilos of Mainline Cell Boilies, will was using a simple hair rig with a size 4 hook and a Mainline Cell wafter for his hook bait, his last fish of the week was The Fly which went 39lb,what a week he had being his first time to Gigantica.

Well after a slow few weeks with the fish spawning and having a well deserved rest afterwards, they are well and truly getting back on the munch.

The carp in stock pond A have been getting bigger every week, its mad that these carp are only two years’ old and some off them are all ready around 7lb, who knows how big some of these carp will get with the size of some of the carp in the main lake these carp might grow on to be some off the biggest carp in France.

We still have some spaces available during the next couple of months, if you would like a last minute trip, or even make a booking for 2017, then visit the website or call 01268 820 440 for further information.
