Week Commencing: Sat 27/05/2017

This week on the main lake at Gigantica we had ten first time visitors and Nick Owen and Al Harper on their second week at Gigantica of a six week long French carping campaign and what better place to finish of than the main lake at Gigantica. With the weather well into the 30s most days ad around 10 at night with little sign of rain or cooling breeze the fish are definitely showing signs of spawning and very much preoccupied.

The lads knew it was going to be a hard week but nether the less they they preserved and it paid off with 13 fish on the bank including an unknown common at 47lb4oz. The guys had a great week and even treated us to our very own Xfactor final on BBQ night of witch I'm sure there will be some embarrassing footage online later. (I'm sure Simon will be in touch soon Mick McMillan).

First up and top rod is Nick Owen fishing in Alcatraz after watching the fish showing from the other side of the lake the previous week this was his obvious choice when it came to the draw and couldn't believe his luck when he came out 8th in the draw and it was still up for grabs. He got straight to work spoding hemp and maize mix out to a spot at 23 ¾ wraps towards Scotties and fished it with the Ronnie Rig tipped with pop up IB corn and landed 9 fish including the Vicar at 48lb2oz and the Football at 38lb8oz.

Next up was Dean Cullen fishing the Tree Line on his firs visit to the main lake having previously fished the road lake. Dean was fishing the IQ-D rig tipped with IB flavour pop up corn with one rod to the base of the sunken tree the second rod to the tip of the tree and his third was fished into open water. Dean managed 2 fish for the week the first being Stoneacres at 43lb8oz and the second was an unknown common at 47lb4oz and was over the moon he got to name it Cullen’s Common needles to say he had a fantastic week and will be back.

Then it was Alen Gavranovic fishing Big Girls after losing a few early on it was only a matter of time before he had one on the bank and what a cracking fish it was Mad Max at 38lb8oz.

Buzz fished Baxters and fished all three rods on zigs and managed to winkle one out with Indian Spice at 24lb.

It's been another fantastic week here at Gigantica with the lads really enjoying the lake and facilities and top class fishing on offer. We still have limited spaces for this year and the bookings are now open for 2018 so why not book your self that trip of a lifetime and bag one of Gigantica’s monster carp.
