Week Commencing: Sat 20/10/2018

It’s that time of year again when the Danish descend on The Main Lake, this group of lads are amongst the most constant and successful anglers we have come to us at Gigantica every year. Year after year they produce the goods, this group of talented individuals all fish in a similar manor, which is spreading large baits over a big area and fishing a matching hardened hook bait over the top. This week’s weather was variable, with a mix of sun, cloud and so wind at times. The night time temperature has started to drop going down to around 6 degrees and the day time temperature was an average of 12 degrees. Throughout the week there was a strong westerly wind up until Wednesday when it turned to a northerly to see the week out.

First up was Morten Petersen who decided to go into Bob’s beach, He found a nice area at 25 wraps in-line with The Alamo, so he had all Three rods on this area, the first fish came on Sunday morning around 6am when he landed a 50lb12oz mirror known as “Alcatraz”. Morten was using a Ronnie rig with a snowman presentation with a DT Baits N-Blend Boilie topped with a pink pop up. He was introducing 5kg of DT Baits N-Blend boilies a day. The Next morning “Fudgys” graced the banks at 81lb, The Queen of the Pond was in an immaculate condition and looking fantastic at this time of year. Morten smashed his PB twice this week dreams can come true.

Anders Frenk decided to go into The Alamo, one of the Danish big casters, he found a nice clean area of gravel at 40 wraps, well out of the reach of most anglers. He decided to put all three rods on this area, in-line with Bob’s Beach. His First fish came on Sunday morning a cracking mirror known as “Black Scales” which went 35lb. Anders was using the German Rig with a DT Baits N blend boilie as his hook bait, he was baiting up every day with 8kg of boilies and yes he was spombing out that far too with a large spomb. The next day he was in again this time with s cracking 50lb2oz mirror called “Baby Brutus”. he went on to have three 2018 Stockies and “Shredder” at 30lb.

Peder Lichtenberg also went into The Alamo and double up with his fishing buddybut on the left side and decided to fish all three rods at 35 wraps in-line with Baxter’s Hole. Peder was baiting up every day with 8kg of DT baits N-Blend boilies. His first fish came on Monday morning, a 50lb4oz mirror called "The Koi", Anders had the same fish last year out of the same swim I’m sure it like the N-Blend boilies. The next day he was in again this time with an infrequent visitor to the bank "Maker Mark" which weighed in at 48lb2oz. On the Thursday afternoon around 5pm he was in again this time with a Cracking scaly mirror Know as “Apple Slice” which went 46lb8oz. Friday Lunch time Peder was in again this time with “Dave’s Common” weighing 45lb9oz.  All his fish came on a German Rig presentation with a DT Baits N-Blend boilie as his hook bait.

Thomas O’MalleyMoeller was set in the The Stink, he was fishing all three rods at 25 wraps in-line with Bob’s Beach, Thomas baited the area with 6kg of DT Baits N-Blend boilies, it didn’t take long before he was into his first fish of the session landing “The Clean Fish”at 56lb, this fell to an KD-Rig snowman style which had a N-Blend bottom bait topped with a matching pop up. The next bite came on Monday which turned out to be “Big Mack” at 53lb, this fish has been on the missing list last time it was out at 39lb in 2014, where do these fish hide and how do they not get caught.

Nikolas Olesen was set up in Co’s Point, he had a good plumb around with his marker rod and found a nice hard area at 25 wraps in-line with the corner of Big Girls and baited the area with 7kg of DT Baits N-Blend Boilies. It took a couple days before Nikolas had his first bite, and this turned out to be “Mr Chow” at 49lb, he was using a KD Rig with a N-Blend boilie bottom bait. He baited his spot every day with 5 kg of boilies, towards the end of the week he landed a couple of 2018 stockies.

SimonMachholdt was fishing in Oblivion, he decided to have a good plumb around with his marker rod and found a clean hard area at 29 wraps in-line with Baxter’s Hole so he put all three rods on that spot and bait it with 7kg of DT Baits N-Blend boilies. It wasn’t until Friday morning that Simon had his first fish of the session which turned out to be a 2018 stockie, not long after that he goes and lands “Looking Busy” at 34lb. This fell to a German rig with a N-Blend boilie botton bait.

Martin Skovwent into Pole Position, he was fish all three rods at 30 wraps in-line with The Stink, Martin baited every day with 5kg of DT Baits N-Blend Boilies. On Wednesday he had a couple of 2018 stockies, the on Friday evening he landed a 25lb mirror. This fell to a IQ D Rig with a N-Blend boilie as his hook bait. Bit of a tough week for Martin after fishing really well all week the carp were just not visiting his area.

See you all again next year…
