Week Commencing: Sat 26/11/2022

The temperatures have certainly turned as we hit into the first week of December its finally feeling like winter! With the winds going northerly for a couple days it brought a chill to the air, but we are yet to have our first frost.

First up we have Mike Hughes who came out late in the draw and settled in Treeline. Having a game plan of fishing over small amounts of bait introducing a kilo of bio cream boilie and corn at 25 wraps. Early hours Tuesday morning he was rewarded with Pips at a new top weight of 75lb! This was mikes only bite for the week which seems to be the trend now winters hit just 1 or two bites for the week but a chance of a biggun!! Mike caught Pips on a combi rig with a 12mm match the hatch hardened bottom bait with a plastic corn topper.

Rich house and Miles doubled up in Alamo and on the first night both managed to nick a fish on singles. Rich fished a white pop up on a spinner rig at 16 wraps and managed a 42lb common. Miles fished a spinner with a pink pop up at 28 wraps and caught one of the new stockies. Rich managed one more bite for the week but a hook pull resulted in a loss of fish.

Alex Stanley aka Boo Boo, managed to stay the whole week and the lake rewarded him for his perseverance on Saturday morning landing 2 fish. One being a new stockie out of pole position but after seeing fish in stock pond he deployed 2 solid bags out at 27 wraps, and this produced The teacher at 50lb 8oz a new 50 in the ranks last out at 34lb!! will this one pull through into the A team.

Mark Jones fished Co’s Point and was top rod for the week but was very unfortunate not to get amongst the bigger stamp landing 5 fish up to 36lb with 4 of them being the new stockies we put in. fishing a standard hair rig with snowman style hook baits, Mark was putting in between 2-4kg a day of boilie crumb on the spot at 28 wraps.

Overall the lake produced 12 fish but it was a pleasure to have this group on the lake despite the conditions and the lack of fish they had a cracking week and showed what fishing all about! Let’s hope in the coming weeks that the fish keep coming trickling out! Will there be a big winter feed up? Only time will tell…

Until next time
