Week Commencing: Sat 07/01/2023

Rain, Rain And More Rain!!!!!!

This week we saw eight anglers battle torrential rain and winds, with big south westerly’s and and low pressure it look bang on but it true Gigantica style if it rains it goes the opposite way! The anglers on did manage to catch a few but just to keep warm and dry was a task in itself, but with only a few hours break each day from the rain they still managed to bag a few!

We start of with Ben Rix, Ben made his way to Stink and with stink not doing many fish lately he decided to do something different to the norm, He fished short to his right 15.5 wraps towards Treeline and on his first night he managed to land a stocky at 27lb 4oz, not a bad start for January! He then repeated the prosses, keeping to his spot and feeding not to much but frequently slipped up K.C at 43lb the biggest fish of the week. That was all for Ben but for a tough week in horrendous condition he done well! Ben fished double corn on combi rigs over corn and crushed boilie for his fish.

Jan Pirtkall landed in the famous Co’s Point, Jan came here with one thing in mind a big scaley Gigantica carp so he tried doing something different to what everybody else does and fished just boilie, a brave move for this time of year but all credit to him for trying something different! Sadly the big scaley didn’t show up for him but he did manage to catch four fish with the biggest being 26lb. Jan was fishing 31 wraps towards the flat oak with snowman D-Rigs.

Marc Albers wanted Big Southerly And Big Southerly is what he got. He started of fishing all three rods down to his left at 14 wraps towards Alamo but with a bit of our advice he moved two rods out to open water towards Alcatraz at 25.5 wraps leaving the banker rod down by the snag. Marc fished spinner rigs with yellow pop ups over corn and crushed boilies on both spots and both spots produced. Two fish short and one fish long, 26lb being the biggest not bad going when your getting battered with rain and trying to hold the bivvy down.

Jason Schroeder came out 2nd in the draw and picked Alcatraz. It started of very slow for Jason but with a few tweaks he managed to bag a couple of the new stockys, fishing 33 wraps towards the scary tree right of Big southerly with German rigs/fake corn over crushed boilie and sweetcorn.

Daniel Woznick fished Pole Position, he managed to catch one on the first night, a stocky at 21lb. Dan fished well all week keeping to his spot and feeding effectively but sadly nothing more came. Dan fished spinners with yellow pop ups over corn and boilie at 33 wraps right of stink.

It was a tough week for most with Alamo, Beach and Oblivion not roducing any fish. But theres always next week!

Until next time
