Corn Star!

I think we will start of with the Corn Star Himself Danny Fairbrass, Dan picked Co’s Point for his choice of swim and as you could imagine he mowed it down. He knew where he wanted to fish In the swim, 31 wraps to the left of the flat oak, without even casting a marker float out there knowing the spot was clean, his very first cast pulled out of his hand with a stocky. But it didn’t end there for Dan he went on to catch much more and some very nice originals amongst them including Split Pec, Baby Brutus, Humpy, Squeaky Clean, And Ugloe. Dan was fishing his standard go to winter mix for Gigantica. Corn, flacked maize, crushed boilie, Cell Smart Liquid and a touch of Hemp Oil. With Pineapple Isotonic gooed hook baits on Spinners over the top it was always going to be a winner! If you would like to see Dan in Live action make your way over to Only Cans to see him in all his glory!

We also saw a bit of magic from Tom Stokes in Alcatraz. As I was stood in the swim with Tom on his first morning after only 10 hours of blanking his mind was ticking away of why he hasn’t had a bite and at that moment the bite alarm was trying to eat his bobbin, landing a repeat capture “Sashquash” a very nice start! Tom worked his swim to make the most out of it, landing another 7 stockys. Tom was fishing 33 wraps towards the scary tree right of big southerly. Fishing corn, crushed boilie, flaked maize, hemp oil with isotonic spinners over the top!

Gareth Hugh’s made his way to Stink and after his efforts from the week before he deserved a capture. Reverse I week prior Gareth started in Alamo walked the banks in the middle of the night and found fish in Treeline and moved to Treeline. Sadly never caught anything in Treeline but the guy was putting in that extra effort and the following week Gigantica paid up and gave him a very rare one “Buzz’s Kamo” only its 4th capture! This was followed by a nice mid thirty common. Gareth was fishing 28wraps straight out towards Baxter’s feeding Corn, flacked maize, crushed boilie, hemp oil with isotonic spinners over the top.

The week started of very well with 80% of the captures coming in the first 48hrs. We had a very rough night on the Tuesday with winds causing white caps and I think this stirred the water up and switched them off. It then went very cold with new north easterly winds and the nights going into the minuses. It could a tough week next week with nothing higher that 3 degrees all week.
