The First Week Of 12!

This week was the first week of the year that we saw twelve anglers on the lake. I think going from eight to twelve definitely shown as the fish seemed to shy off from the angling pressure but non the less some of the anglers still managed to catch a few.

First off we have Josh Field, Josh was fishing in Alamo and fished long at 30 wraps towards Baxters, didn’t catch on the first night, but he saw plenty in close. So he brought the rods back to where he was seeing the fish but sods law his long spot started fizzing. The rods were soon back out on the long spot and that same night he managed to land Elephant Tube at 39lb. Josh went on to catch an additional 3 stockies to finish of his week. Josh baited approximately 25kg of flake maize and sweetcorn throughout the week, spinners and yellow pop ups over the top.

Jay Barnsley the Ginger Goat fishing in Big Girls landed four fish in total only stockies but leaving the rods out the water in the day and letting the fish come in, then putting the rods out after dinner was a great tactic, also instead of spodding and walking up the margin and feeding from the bank was a great way to keep the noise down to a minimum. Jay was feeding Hemp, Maize, Corn and crushed boilie with spinners, fake maize over the top.

Brad in Stock Pond was fishing 23 wraps to the spit and managed to land a new stockie on his final evening. Again the same as Jay, Brad was walking up to the spit and feeding from the margin. Brad was feeding Hemp, Maize and boilie with yellow spinners over the top.

And finally we have Laura Fitch. Laura was in Traz and fished extremely well all week but the fish were just not there but she did manage to land a new stockie on the final day, she named the fish Kaizen after the new rods because one of the rod lake anglers was generous and gave her a set. 28 wraps to the life bough with spinners and yellows over the top.

The weather looks bang on out here at the moment high teens in the day and around 8 degrees at night, I’m sure once the dust settles from there being 12 anglers on I’m sure there be plenty of bites to be had.

Until Next Time
