The 7 Year Target!

Game changing week this week with one seventy and two sixty’s, almost like someone turned on the lights. Has spring sprung? Let’s hope so!

We will start off with the super star Malcolm Mitchel, Malcolm has been coming to Gigantica for a very long time and little did he know what was going to happen this trip. He made his way to Big Southerly and fished 14 wraps down his left-hand margin, 25 wraps straight out towards Alcatraz and because no one was in Scotties corner he fished one rod to his right into the entrance of the bay. It was a very slow week all week for Malcolm but he done the right thing and stuck to his spots with consistent feeding each day! On the Friday the very last evening his righthand rod was away but sadly lost! And as Malcolm was having a tantrum in his bivvy no more than five minutes later his left hand rod was away and after a slow and heavy fight his 7 year target was in the net! Fugies at 75lb 4oz, a very well deserved capture! Malcolm was fishing snowman combi rigs over a sloppy spod mix.

The we have Karl Pipkin in Stink. Karl started of flying, catching the clean fish at 61lb 14oz on his first night a mega start. He went on to catch a couple more ending his week on  three fish. Not a bad week in Stink considering it’s been a hard swim all winter. Karl was fishing 30 wraps towards the house between beach and Baxter’s, Simple fluorocarbon d-rigs over a bed of maize, hemp, pellet and boilies.

Dan Swain fishing out of Baxters. Fished tactical with leaving his rods during the day and baiting and putting his rods back in after dinner. This payed of massively for Dan landing split pec on his second night at 65lb, another very well deserved capture. This was the only fish for Dan this week but if you’re only going to c atch one why not make it a mid-sixty. Dan was fishing maize, flake maize, and 10mm boilie with the spod as well as throwing sticking boilie over the top. Fluorocarbon d-rigs with pink wafters caught him his fish.

James Lockwood in Alamo also started his week of with a bang catching The Teacher on the first night at 48lb 2oz a very nice start. Fishing long and accurate was key for James landing another 40 two days later, Kling-On at 40lb 14oz. he went on to catch another two stockies. James was spombing 25 spombs a day over his spot with crushed boilie and corn, combi rigs with I.B dumbbell wafters got him his fish.

Then we have stu Couper Aka tom Dailey in Traz, stu landed 3 fish with two faces being the biggest a very nice long original mirror that anyone would be very happy to catch. He did catch a upper 30 common that we didn’t get chance to way due a sling/net/bailiff/stu complication but he did try saving it by giving it the old tom Dailey dive but I think once the water hit the bottom of the waders he soon came back up for air a very good effort non the less. Stu was fishing 33 wraps with spinner and yellow pop ups over the top.

For me I was once again in pole landing 4 fish the biggest being the  windy common at 42lb but my favourite of the week was a fish known as chavvy at 38lb 8oz. A banging stocky. I was fishing the normal spot 33 wraps right of stink with spinners and yellow popups.

A nice week with some very nice fish caught! It is spring so it can go up and down but let’s hope the catching continues.

Until next time

Tight lines

Ben
