Its All About The Naturals!

A very tough week this week all over, the pike have spawned, and the fish are fixated on there eggs. As we were pulling in the cray traps through the week the spawn was hanging off the trap. You can see it in the margins hanging of branches also. The fish are showing from 3ft of the bank to all the way out in the middle above the tyres. The fish don’t seem to be hanging around in one area, there all over! Although a very tough week a few of the lads still managed to catch but it did take until Wednesday for the first bite to happen and that went to Jason Anderson in Alcatraz, a very nice 31lb 14oz mirror known as “Apostrophe”. Fishing 31 wraps to the right of Big Southerly, spinners over a mix of Crushed and whole boilie with a bit of corn got him his bite. 

Friday morning was soon here and with nothing else happening it looked like the week was going to come to a close with just one fish. But it soon changed with Alamo and Baxter’s both landing a fish each within 15 minutes of each other! Dan Leigh in Alamo managed to land “chateau Latour” at 46lb, fishing 33 wraps towards Baxter’s, baiting heavy all week with boilie, spinner with bottom baits over the top. And on the final whistle at 08:30 on Saturday morning he lands Humpy at 48lb 14oz. And Jamie Woodman in Baxter’s landed “George’s Pride” at 39lb 4oz also fishing spinners at 25wraps towards the red and white tower, feeding hemp maize and crushed boilie. 

With warmer weather next and hopefully the pike are soon to finish doing what they’re doing, with a bit of luck the fish will get their heads down!
