BREAMING HELL!!!

with plenty of the same question in people’s minds was have the fish shown any time of sexy time yet!! It didn’t seem that way with a good head of fish  being caught across lake it seemed  there was still time for a feed-up.

Lets kick of the week with Richard Balducci who had the time of his life with his first trip to France fancying his chances in stock pond for the week. Straight into action for Richard Saturday evening into his first fish from the 9 wrapspot to his left he was playing his first Gigantica carp!!. That margin spot went on to produced a whopping 14 fish across the week… pick of the bunch from this spot was ‘ Uncle G ‘ at 34lb. this wasn’t the only spot for Richard that produced fish he had a spot rocking at 14.5 wraps up his tree line margin that went on to catch him a further 4 fish to 27lb. the fishing front wasn’t the only high light of the week for Richard it was when Darrel Peck had a move of swim and set up alongside him in pole position that’s when the holiday really started as Richard branded that Darrel was is hero an what a moment to share the bank with him. Stiff hinge rigs with pop up maize was the key to success for Richard feed mix particle and mainline link boilie/chops and crum with sweetcorn. Baiting from the margin through a gap in the trees on mid-day and kept the consitency all week.

Scotties corner kept the form of producing the bites going into the new week with James Rix fancying his chances round there fishing solid bags to the weed bed at 18 wraps. Mainline 4mm pellet on Korda PVA bag rigs size 4, 2 grains of SSM and a good glug of Tiger nut goo. 12 fish for James for the week 5 mid doubles ,3 20s to 29lb, 2 30s to 33lb, and 2 40s ‘ Roblox’ at 48lb finishing off with ‘Pixells’ at 45lb 12oz. Great week James!

Baiting from the small opening behind Co’s point was the edge in this swim being silent as possible feeding 5 scoops a day with Mainline link chops Maize and House pellet.

Well it was Big fish angler Darrell Peck’s first trip of the year to the Big G for a filming session for Carp fix. After picking out ball 7 he was amazed to get his first choice swim Treeline after him seeing fish in there on the walk round. All guns blazing typical Pecky style he had 2 solid bagsdeployed on the 21 wrap margin spot for his opening night, the night time went by and without any action Darrel took a ride round to Pole Position to see what happening that end of the lake. His mind was made with weather forecast showing the wind crashing In there for the next few days his gear was  soon on the barrow and of he went round there. Having a good plum around leaving the favoured long spot alone he was happy with a small hard spot either side of the silt at 19.5 wraps towards the scary tree. Solid bags with 1 grain of SSM was the tactic to slip up ‘Baby weld’ at 51lb, after landing his first fish Darrell stuck 40 spombs of House pellet and Hemp over his spot hoping for another chance the morning after. Well that didn’t go as planned an then came a quite few days. back out came the plum rod as he was seeing fish showing short towards Alamo at 16 wraps. Darrell managed one more fish in the name of ‘Short  Dorsal’ at 42lb to round out his week. Top angling as per mate!

Gigantic regular Ben Oakes and his Mrs Gemma set there stall out in sunny Big SUV with the sun on them all week they went home with a sun tan. Bens fished this swim with great success in the past so he set of where he left of last year with 1 rod straight at the 14.5 spot towards the Marker pole banked 4 fish from this spot PVA Bag style with the old Faithful SSM. His other 2 rods was fish out at the 25 wrapspot using the Heli lead system with Combi rigs double SSM feeding very little each day just enough to pinch a bite with 10mm Pacific Tuna, Corn with a little bit of Corn. Ben rounded at the week with 4 fish ‘Josh’s’ at 44lb and ‘Chipper’ at 38lb being the best 2 with a couple of stockies ton back it up.

Another Gigantica regular Danny Eastwood could not turn down the opportunity to jump in the the famous Co’s point. Despite Co’s being out of form at the moment this didn’t shake him when he shorts spot at 5 wraps, yes 5 wraps!! Towards oblivion gave him his first bite of the week landing a 49lb mirror, The fish on the other hand didn’t want to play game for a picture and Dan lost it on the mat without a picture. He kept his head high an remain cool with was good to see as these things happen, it was his 25 wrap spot towards the Flat oak that brought him his next bite on a 18ft zig  black foam named ‘Galician’ at 36lb. zigs seemed to be the way forward for Dan finishing the week on 3 fish pick of the bunch being ‘Two Faces’ at 40lb.

Nathen Caen opted for Alamo, after a slow few days he started seeing the fish showing in really short at 13 wrapstowards Alcatraz feeding Hot shrimp Boilie with the Catapult managed 5 fish with ‘AJ’S being the biggest at 35lb. 10kg of boilie used for the week baiting mid-day.

Brett got stuck straight into Oblivion working the depths of his zig all day ever day swapping and changing heights when he discovered the 20ft zig was the one he manged to get into the fish. He manged 6 fish of the zig for the week using black foam with red kickers with his other 2 rods on the deck 25 wraps out at pole position using Slip-D rigswith yellow wafters. 39lb common was the best fish of 9 for Brett with his on the deck spot producing 3 fish feed Hot shrimp boilie and Corn in his spod mix.

Tea Drinking machine Keith Hayes went in Big Girls with simple fishing across to his left margin to the first opening in the trees at 12 wraps with one rod and then his other 2 rods to the 2nd opening in the trees at 14 wrap, with no spombing involved Keith had it easy baiting up through the trees he managed to catch a fish of each spot to 20lb. baiting small and often all week with Mainline Link boilie and 15kg of house particle using Standard Hair Rigs with SSM on the hair.

Aaron Metcalf seen fish showing in the margin of Baxter’sand with the the wind crashing straight in there he set he sites for a solid bag on the up his right hand margin 7.5 wraps baiting silently from the banking he managed to pick of a 27lb common. Slow few days went by before he fancied a last minute move into Bobs Beach on Friday evening where he had seen fish showing short in there the night before, 11 wraps out in front using IQ-D Rig 2 grains of SSMbagged him a 26lb mirror first light Saturday morning.  Wise move mate! Fished with Cell and Link crumbed with Mix Particle.

We had are very own the ‘Welsh Wizard’ annual weeks holiday this year fishing in the draw with the lads. Not like he had any pressure at all on him considering he lives here an SHOULD know the lake like the back of his hand?!?! It didn’t seem that way when he somehow manage to land 3 breamin the first half of the week fishing from stink down to his right in front of the snags at 16 wraps. Besides taking abuse all week of me and all the lads he decided not to come round for tea Thursday and Friday evening because he said ( I really need to catch something). His look did finally come a reality when he manged to nail ‘Squeaky Clean’ at 42lb 4oz, he still received plenty of abuse with us saying you don’t actually deserve it!!  20ft Zig with black foam was the one to bank the scaly beast!

Ben Milnes had his first outing of the year to Gigantica with his lad Malachi. Starting off in Bobs Beach fishing out to the rocks at 26 wraps but look didn’t go his way with nothing at all in front of him he jumped into Tree Line for the finally night. He managed to nick a 33lb common on packing the gear up Saturday morning that ended up a result!. Solid bags with 5 spods of House pellet in the Tree Line done him the bite at 21 wraps to the left of Stink.

Last up we’ve got the Boy Chris Irving and Gigantica veteran on his 3rd trip of the year out of a whopping 20 trips!!!. Fishing out of Alcatraz to the scary tree at 28 wrapswas the starting point of the week for Chris but after a few days went by before a change of method to Roving a zig outshort to showing fish with black foam finally paid of banking a 27lb stockie.

We Finished on 59  Fish for the week so not to bad at all, With the weather picking up to mid 20s and the fish totally on the move across most of the lake especially down in Scotties where they’ve been stacked all week its looking spot on for the new week ahead.

Been an absolute pleasure this week guys and hope to see you all again.

All the best,

Joe.
