Pigs And Hippo’s

A very interesting week this week with plenty of fish caught, a car crash and a police chase!

This week we saw Paul Clackie fishing in stink and Paul managed the biggest fish of the week, a fished called 2 C’s at 51lb 14oz. Paul started of fishing two rods at 17 wraps towards the two popular trees in the corner of treeline and one rod out towards Baxter’s at 28 wraps. His first fish came of the 17-wrap spot so after a few days of no luck out long he brought this rod back to a 14 wrap spot towards Alcatraz and it didn’t take long before he landed at lovely 42lb common. Paul was feeding maize and boilie with combi rigs feeding approximately 5kg a day.

Darko was fishing from Pole Positions, fishing 31 wraps just to the right of stink. Darko didn’t manage a fish until the very final morning just before he had to reel his rods in and what a fish it was! Apple Slices at 49lb 8oz a great save! Feeding mix maize hemp and boilie with spinners match the hatch wafters over the top.

Gordon Harman in Bob’s Beach managed 5 bites and landed 4 with the biggest being The Centurion at 44lb 8oz. Gordon managed two fish Monday morning and two fish Friday morning. All fish came from 20 wraps towards Stink. Rig wise Gordon was fishing Heli safe leaders which is best for this bank due to the very soft lakebed! Blow Back rigs with 15mm high leakage pineapple wafters over a bed of 15mm essential cell, maize and pellet. Gordon got through 15kg of boilie, 10kg of maize and 5 kg of pellet throughout the week.

Weeman in Treeline fished 3 different spots, one at 15 wraps towards the treeline the 2nd at 21 wraps a bit further up the treeline and the 3rd out in open water at 25wraps towards stink. Weeman started his week of with a fish called Solid Scales at 23lb, it then went a bit slow for him but manged a belter on the last night a fish called Maddy at 42lb 4oz a very old lin. Rig wise, fishing running leads with I.Q D-rigs with size 4 curve shank hooks. Pink and yellow wafters over chopped boilie mixed with maize and pellet, also added a bit of tuna oil for extra attraction.

Lee Prodger managed 4 fish in total with the biggest being Chateau Latour at 44lb. Lee started his week off very slow with no fish to his name until Friday morning but lee new from previous experience keeping to the spots is key. Once they moved in he caught 4 fish. Fishing 25 wraps towards the tower with snowman, white and yellow topers. Feed wise he got through 15kg of cell and 15kg of maize.

Geoff Longley fishing in Alamo had a steady week swapping and changing his tactics kept the bites coming. First of fishing all 3 rods out long at 28 wraps to the right of beach, after a night with no fish and seeing the fish short he moved a rod to a 16 wrap spot towards the lodge and caught a couple fairly quick then it went dead. Then saw fish out on his long spot and caught a couple out there. Swapping and changing each spot kept the bites coming. Started of with spinner rigs but soon moved to solid bags and that also made the difference. Geoff was feeding DNA bug boilies on both spots.

George in Big Girls had an interesting week. He decided to fish out towards the spit at 25 wraps, with a couple of slow nights the fish moved in, and he started to catch a couple. On the Wednesday night the phone rang with a excited George on the other end explaing he’s got a hippo that must be 50, after the weighing in it only weighed 36lb 12oz a fished known La Wonk. George got a bit of stick for this off the lads, but it was all good banter. George was using combi rigs with fake maize and feeding 5kg of with link boilies each day. The following night he was away again and as he was playing the fish a car was flying down the road with the police behind, the car rolled just behind his swim with the two guys in the car jumping the fence and the police shortly after them. After they caught the one guy and it all settled, I got a phone call saying there’s someone in the bushes down his margin, after a quick search we found a guy hiding just behind his swim. Police was called and for some odd reason they just let them both go! Not something we expected considering we are in the middle of nowhere.

Chris Clarke returned and ended up in Co’s. Being top rod, he landed 14 fish. Chris was fishing the standard 31 wrap spot towards the old tits feeding plenty of boilie and maize with a little bit of pellet. IQ D-Rigs with fake maize got him his bites.

A very interesting week.
