Bailiff Comments
Week Commencing: Sat 08/06/2024
By Any Mean’s!
Better week this week, even though the anglers had it against them with the fish starting to spawn on the Thursday. But prior to that they did manage to land 17 fish between them with the one or two big one’s including the mighty Shoulders!
First off, we have Matt Jenkins, Matt’s been with us for 2 weeks now and not had the best of luck with draws or fish! But this week he opted to go into Big Girls, Struggling all week but keeping his head on he was finally rewarded after night twelve with “Shoulders” at 68lb 8oz and a new P.B! Matt started of fishing a few spots within the swim but after a chat with the bailiff he decided to fish all three rods’ just off the spit at 26 wraps. At 26wraps this puts you just off the bar, where the gravel meets clay. Fishing all three rods on spinner rig’s four inches long with yellow Gigantica special’s, topped with fake pink corn got the big boy to slip up! Feeding wise matt was feeding a mixture of house pellet maize and CreAmino boilies.
Jake McDonnell also came out late in the draw but still manged to get in the Co’s Point! knowing the swim has had its ups and downs throughout this spring he done well to catch a few and a couple of rare ones to. One being the super rare “Broady’s Mirror” at 55lb 4oz and the other being “The Weld” at 59lb 4oz, with a couple of mid 20 commons to follow, that’s not a bad week in Co’s for this time of year. Jake made a plan and stuck to it but played around with bait until he found something that triggered them into action, he started of fishing boilie and maize, then tried a bit of hemp in the mix but ended up fishing pellet and only pellet. Fishing 26 wraps towards the tits with 9 inch Noodle Rigs as his rig of choice. Half a boilie and half a pink pop up as his hook bait.
Next we have Neil Cox in Stock pond, Neil was top rod for the week landing a total of seven fish. Not the monsters he was hoping for but he still manages a couple of very nice commons including “The Arrow” that hasn’t made a appearance for over four years. The Arrow weighed in at 34lb 13oz, a few fish and a few days later he managed a P.B, a fish nown as “The Viking” at 37lb 1oz. Neil was fishing rods along the treeline and a zig out infront. All rods produced fish! 27 wraps towards the corner, 9 wraps hard right to a gap in the treeline and a roaming zig to showing fish. the fish he did have on the zig was at 20ft but on the bottom he was fishing German rigs with Mad Baits Banana Nut Wafters. Feeding a mixture of boilie sweetcorn and house pellet.
Paul Stephens in Alcatraz managed one fish for his trouble this week, a fish known as “Paraody” at 39lb 11oz. Even though he stayed head strong, sadly nothing came along for him after that. Fishing 21 wraps towards the scary, feeding essential cell, house pellet and maize. Rig wise the simple D-Rig with a essential cell wafter.
Tim Matthews manged the awesome looking “Baby Plated” at 36lb from Big Southerly. A fish that anyone would be happy to catch. Tim was fishing 22 wraps towards Alcatraz feeding link and maize. With double 15mm link wafter on spinners.
Gavin ALCOCK was trying his best to catch by any means. But only managed one true capture a fish known as Nanny Pat at 24lb 5oz. Fishing a 10ft zig at showing fish.
That’s it for this week with the fish having other things on their minds it was never going to be easy. The fish started spawning Friday and typing this today, today being Monday, they seem to have stopped. So fingers crossed that’s them done and time for the proper munching to begin!
Until Next Times
Tight Time
