Goo In The Mouth!
What a week! Twelve anglers attacked the main lake this week with ten. Out of the twelve catching, almost a full house. Some absolute units along the way to.
First off, we have Steve Ryan, Steve made the very good choice of picking Beach on the drew and with Beach’s recent form Steve seemed very confident. Steve opted to fish two spots in this swim one at 18 wraps towards Stink and the other being 25 wraps towards Alamo. Both spots managed to produce fish with 4 bites and 4 fish landed. Steve kicked off his week on the Tuesday with a lovely 41lb 8oz mirror. A slow few day’s went buy then on Thursday morning he had a double take one being a 44lb common and the other being the mighty Pip’s at 73lb 4oz, a knew P.B and his first time in France. Rig and Bait, Steve fished Stiff hinge rigs with 20lb IQ2 as the boom section, Blakes Baits HNV 16mm match the hatch pops over HNV Boilie House Hemp and House Pellet.
Next, we have Ben Oaks and Jemma Bailey, Jemma put her hand the bag for Ben and managed to pick out ball no1, a very good start! Ben opted to fish Alamo also another good choice with its recent form. Ben spent most of his week concentrating on a 30-wrap spot just to the left of beach with weed on each side but big enough for three rods. Keeping the baiting very accurate helped him be top rod for the week and landing some very impressive carp and a total of 15. First night he managed to land The Bean at 51lb 8oz, A couple of days and a few 20s/30s later he managed the very friendly Shoulders at 67lb 8oz. Shortly after pictures of shoulders Ben went to get sugar leaving Jem in charge of the rods and Jem managed to catch Smokey, a lovely original scaley at 28lb. Another couple of days past with the odd 20 and 30 then on the Friday Ben managed Chop Dorsal 50lb 8oz then as we were in the water doing pictures one of his rods was away and Jem managed to land 2C’s at 53lb 8oz. These fish didn’t come easy for Ben though he had to adapt throughout the week, firstly landing 6 fish on the bounce with his go to Combi rig at around 8inch’s to then loose four on the bounce the following day, but a little trim down to 5inch he was back nailing them again. Feeding was also a thing for Ben making sure he was putting bait in at the right time of day as well as amount of bait. But over the week Ben put in a total of 55kg. 60% CC Moore Tuna and Pro-Stim Liver mixed, 20% House Pellet and 20% house maize.
Matt Leggatt in Alcatraz managed a good week with a total of nine fish, he had to battle through the mid 20’s to then finally be rewarded with the unit he wanted The Clean Fish at 66lb 8oz. Matt was fishing 29 wraps to the left of stink on a clean smooth area amongst the weed. All bites came between 9-10 in the morning and 2-9 in the afternoon, again Matt made sure he was baiting at the correct times to maximise his chances of getting bites. Matt was fishing stiff hinges, starting off with Match the hatch pop ups but soon changed to yellows and this got the bites coming. Feeding 9mm house pellet and fishmeal boilies.
Wayne Fearon fishing in Big Southerly and slow but rewarding week Landing a total of 6 fish. First night went by and Wayne managed one on his first morning only a small one but still off the mark. He then went on to catch The Exclusive at 39lb 8oz, but he was truly rewarded for his efforts on the final morning with The Leather at 48lb 12oz. Wayne was fishing two spots one at 14 wraps towards the snags down the left-hand margin and the other two out to the hump at 25 wraps towards Alcatraz. Bait and rigs, rig wise Wayne opted for the spinner rig with orange pop ups. Feeding Boilie and house pellet.
Regular Chris Irving managed to get himself his first choice of swim, Treeline. Chris didn’t manage the same week as he did in co’s the week before but he did still manage to land a total 7 fish with the biggest being Colin at 42lb 15oz. Chris was feeding plenty of hemp at 22 wraps towards stink with solid bags and the same at 21 wraps along the treeline, Chris was using a pole to cast over with a bare lead, dragging his rig back and dropping his bag down by hand. All his bites came at the start of the week but as the week went on the fish moved off into open water.
Lee Seery, now if this guy caught as many fish as he did making phone calls there would be no fish left in the lake! But still Lee managed a total three fish, this wasn’t from lack of trying that’s for sure. Lee fished hard all week for a couple of small stockies but on his final night he was finally rewarded with a better one, Long Spot at 44lb 8oz. Lee was fishing 18 wraps at oblivion and 17 wraps up the Treeline. All his fish came from the treeline feeding hemp maize boilie and pellet with combi rigs over the top.
Linear Bailiff Paul Dallimore AKA King Dalli dropped himself into Baxter’s and managed a couple fish, the fish didn’t really come into Baxter’s this week so he done well to catch a couple, the biggest being the Exocet at 35lb. Dalli was fishing twelve wraps hard right to the treeline and 17 wraps towards Alamo. Fishing combi rigs with match the hatch wafters and feeding Linear Baits, house maize and pellet.
Myself I managed a couple of nights in Pole and manged two with the biggest being Aviator at 38lb 8oz. I was feeding hemp pellet and maize with my go to 4 inch spinners and Gigantica special yellow wafters over the top.
A very enjoyable week with plenty of laughs and good memories made, we are in full swing of summer now so let the good times roll.
Until next time
Tight lines
