Week Commencing: Sat 27/07/2024
Hot Hot Hot
A very hot one this week weather wise with temperatures in the late 30s proving to be a tricky week’s fishing for some.
First in line this week is venue regular Gavin Middlebrook who came out 11th in the draw this week and chose to go in Alcatraz. Gav spent the week fishing 27.5 wraps to the left of stink, fishing spinners with double slow sinking maize or ISOFish bottom baits over a bed of Mainline ISOFish and house maize and started with a good amount of bait which he put out the Sunday morning after no success fishing singles the first night. Come Monday Gav had managed two fish both being our smaller residents then managed another three Monday night with one of them being a lovely original known as ‘The Rudder’ at 47lb 7oz. It then slowed up for Gavin through the week managing another recently stocked fish later in the week. Until next time Gav.
Next up we have another regular visitor Aaron Metcalf who drew ball 3 and got into Co’s Point. Choosing to go long with 2 rods and 1 shorter, Aaron was fishing 30 wraps at the tits with 2 rods and 18 at the flat oak. Aaron’s bait of choice this week was Krill Active boilie fishing match the hatch on D-Rigs which worked well as it was the first night Aaron got himself off the mark landing ‘Buzz’s Half Linear’ at 43lb, a cracking old scaley and was then getting steady bites through the week all coming off the long spot which he then put all 3 rods out to, landing ‘Shmokin’ at 39lb 12oz, ‘Little Easton’ at 31lb and ‘Complete Carnage’ at 30lb 8oz.
Over in Big Southerly this week was James Hudson who pulled ball 2 out of the hat. James was fishing 26 wraps towards Alcatraz with 2 of his rods and 1 to his left at 14 wraps at Alamo and it was his rods out in front that went first come Monday morning where he managed ‘Tennent’ at 38lb 10oz fishing over a bed of Royal Marine boilie and house mixed particle with scent from hell topped bottom baits in either pink or yellow on a combi rig, were doing the bites for James this week. Wednesday was his next bite when he had ‘Big Foot’ at 34lb, this time from his left, then landing his final fish on Thursday afternoon in the shape of ‘Tob’s’ at 38lb 14oz.
Jesse found himself in Stock Pond this week and unfortunately it was a tough one for him only managing the one fish, but he went away happy as it was a new personal best and some carp too being another one of our original scaleys known as ‘Two Faces’ at 37lb 12oz. Jesse was fishing a couple of spots this week one being the 9 wrap spot tight to the right hand corner and the other 17 wraps half way up the treeline. Jesse had his fish just before tea on the Sunday using a spinner rig on a snowman.
And finally, this week we have Simon Evans who came out 5th in the draw and put himself in Treeline. Simon decided to fish a few spots this week the 21.5 wrap spot at Stink in open water, then 24 up the treeline along with baiting tight in the margin to his left keeping an eye on it throughout the week. Simon was using just boilie this week which was one of his own then fishing solid bags with toppers in various colours. Simon managed one fish this week known as ‘Brownie’ ay 25lb 12oz coming on the Monday morning after breakfast.
That’s it for this week, a frustrating week for some as the fish were very active but just didn’t show their faces.
Roll on next week,
Tight Lines.

Team Gigantica.
