A Recaptured PB

Another 12 excited anglers this week, some new some returning, how will they get on?

First up is one of our regulars this week Aaron Metcalf who came out first in the draw and chose to go in the famous Co’s Point. Aaron had done a few trips this year with great success landing some of the very sought-after big carp we have here at Gigantica. Back on his go to Krill active boilie, Aaron chose to fish out at 30 wraps towards the tits and went with a boilie only approach putting a rod length spread out via our boating service then fishing D rigs over the top with match the hatch bottom baits. Aaron had a great start to his week getting off the mark on his first night with two stockies meaning that first fish pressure was now off. Come Monday morning same time upon first light Aaron was in again and just after losing one he was desperate to get this one in and it was a fish he’d caught before and is his current PB ‘Lippy Common’ which he last had back in July last year at 67lb 14oz but this time it went 69lb breaking his PB again. Aaron then went on to have a 35lb 8oz mirror shortly after. Bite time for Aaron this week was a short window between first light and breakfast landing all his fish bar one during this period on Wednesday which was one of the big scalies in the lake known as ‘Equalled’ at 47lb ending his week on 11 fish.

Next up we had John Ling who managed to get in Big Southerlydespite coming out late in the draw, which was surprising after what happened last week. John fished the going 27 wrap spot towards Alcatraz fishing fishmeal boilie and hemp with spinners over the top with pink topped bottom baits. John was also away his first night managing a 26lb mirror. It was then Tuesday when he managed to get amongst the biggens and caught ‘Mammut’ at 56lb 4oz one of our big golden commons. Friday saw John land ‘Mooney’ at 46lb 9oz and also break his PB and luckily for him after our PB wall bucket soakings, when he had ‘Two Time’ at 68lb 8oz a fish that hadn’t been out in nearly a year, last coming out of the same swim on the Korda Social.

Grant Dilloway managed to get himself in Alamo this week and again chose to fish a spot that was in good form, fishing 30 wraps to the W in the treeline between Baxter’s Hole and Bob’s Beach. Grant started the week using a mixture of Krill boilie and house particle fishing solid bags over the top with Signature Squid wafters. It was a couple of days before Grant managed to get off the mark landing ‘Scrappy’ just after midnight on Monday night at 33lb which was a good start to a great day as later on he caught ‘The Runt’ at 37lb and the very impressive ‘The Clean Fish’ at 66lb a fish that loves to come out of Alamo. Grant then went on to catch another 5 fish throughout the rest of the week including ‘Skyfall’ at 32lb 8oz, ‘Dirty Mags’ at 33lb and ‘Wayne’s World at 37lb 4oz.

Last up this week we had Gary Howard who came out last in the draw and had the choice of Big Girls or Treeline and went in Treeline. Targeting the treeline with one rod at 21 wraps and putting two out in open water, going 21.5 wraps at Stink, Gary fished a fishmeal boilie with mixed house particle which leaded him to catch his only fish of the week off the open water spot being one known as ‘Babybelle’ at 34lb 8oz.

A good week for some but a tough week for others this week on Gigantica hopefully it picks up again soon.

Roll on next week.

Tight Lines,

Greg.
