First snow of the year
A very hard week with the temperatures dropping to as low as -3 and highs of only 10 degrees this week, that still didn’t stop this group getting 13 bites between them and landing 9 up to 56lb 6oz.
Paul, who chose to fish The Stink this week had an epic session with landing two of the biggest fish this week. He decided on a spot 14 wraps towards the right of Baxter’s, switching between a spinner rig and a solid bag rig coupled with a cell wafter and corn topper, his spod mixed consisted of hemp and maise but was also using 4mm pellet within the solid bag. He managed to land his new PB at 56lb 6oz with ‘La Boheme’ and also landed another mirror at 48lb 6oz ‘Mooney’.
Dave who decided to fish Big Southerly had a good week landing 3 fish up to 51lb 7oz. he was fishing short at 13.5 wraps out towards the left corner and using a flat spot along the tree line as his marker as the wind changed into his direction and brought the fish with it. He was using a combi rig with a size 6 hook, a match the hatch wafter was the winning hook bait of choice and also topping the spot up with 5 spombs after putting the rods out.
Jord decided to fish Alcatraz at range and was rewarded with a 28lb 8oz mirror named ‘Kaizen’. He was using a combi rig coupled with a cell hard hooker topped off with yellow corn at 32 wraps towards the left of The Stink. Jord decided to put a bit of bait out there at the beging of the week then topped it up with 5 spombs before placing his rig over it.
Greg decided to fish Co’s Point at range and was rewarded with a snow carp weighing in at 22lb. He chose a spot at 28.5 wraps towards the dip in the flat trees on the opposite horizon. Using boilie and maize as his spod mix he then chose to put out a bottom bait topped off with yellow corn which was the winning combination that landed him a snow carp picture.
Mike chose to fish Oblivion ready for when the wind swung around, and he was rewarded with landing a carp of 20lb11oz. knowing the wind brought them to him he decided to fish a spot only 9 wraps out towards Baxster’s. His winning method was a solid bag filled with boilie crumb and 4mm pellet coupled with a match the hatch wafter the carp couldn’t resist
Phil fished the left-hand side of Alamo, after roaming a zig around for a few days at different depths with no joy he knew a change had to be made. He decided on a spot 16 wraps towards Baxter’s putting 5 spombs over it consisting of flake maize and hemp with added hemp oil for attraction. He used a cell bottom bait with a yellow corn topper on a combi rig which produced a mirror or 20lb 5oz
Very nice to see a few fish on the bank with very hard conditions and the first snow fall of the year and to top it off we got to witness a new PB for a lucky angler.
Lets see what next week brings with teprature slightly rising,
Tight lines,
Adam.
