Week Commencing: Sat 23/11/2024

A Week of the Unnamed

First up this week we have father and son duo, Richard and Daniel Reed, who decided to double up in The Alamo together after Richard sealing it with ball 3 in the draw. Splitting the swim in two with Daniel going left and Richard on the right they both shared the long spot at 30 wraps towards the W and came shorter with their other 2 rods. Baiting up as a team, which is always a good move when doubling up, Richard was first off the mark on Sunday night when he had a 38lb mirror. Fishing combi rigs with pineapple hook baits topped with pink corn over a bed of house mixed particle and whole and crumbed Cell boilie, Richard went on to have another two fish Tuesday night when he had ‘The Windy Common’ at 50lb 8oz and an unnamed mirror at 23lb 12oz. it wasn’t until Wednesday night when Daniel caught his first fish when he also had one of our unnamed commons at 39lb 12oz.

Next up we have one of our regulars and friendly face Jez, who came out late in the draw and started his week off in Tree Line but after no action the first few nights he decided to move into Baxter’s Hole after seeing a lot of fish show in there. This turned out to be a good move as Jez managed two fish his first night coming on solid bags down his left-hand margin at 12 wraps, one being ‘Softplay’ at 32lb 7oz and the other ‘Butterfly’ at 41lb. after a motionless night and see fish back in Tree Line, Jez got on the move again and put the rods back out on his old baited spots a rod length off the tree line and 21.5 wraps at Stink. Again, another good move from Jez as on his first night back in there he managed ‘Elaine’ at 31lb 12oz.

In the famous Co’s Point this week we had Sean Fehily, who came out second in the draw and started the week off fishing 16 wraps out in front of him using house particle and Cell boilie as his mix then a match the hatch bottom bait with a yellow corn topper. Sean got his first fish Saturday night when he had ‘Mars Bar Muncher’ at 35lb 12oz. after seeing the fish showing out further Sean then moved out to 28 wraps at the flat oak tree and managed another one the next night when he had one of our unnamed fish at 22lb 8oz. Sean then later moved into Scottie’s Corner after hear fish to his left for a few nights, but unfortunately had no luck.

Over in Alcatraz we had Lee Bray who got ball 7 in the draw and decided to go for the going spot on the right hand side of his water, 30 wraps to the left of The Stink. Lee was another one who was away the first night and went on to have steady bites at nighttime throughout the week where he had another unnamed fish now known as ‘The Yeehaa’ at 30lb, ‘Kentucky’ at 21lb, ‘Linzeeee Woooo’ at 29lb, ‘Moby Dick’ at 20lb, ‘Sheriff Keith’ at 20lb 12oz and ‘Sprayders’ at 28lb 12oz. All Lees fish where coming off a bed of Cell crumbed boilie mixed with house mixed particle all soaked in Cell smart liquid, fishing three D rigs with either a 12 essential cell or double slow sinking maize as the hook bait.

Ball one this week went to another friendly face Steve French, who decided to go in Bob’s Beach with certain target fish in mind. Steve fished solid bags over a spread of boilie and started off fishing 24 wraps in between The Alamo and The Stink. Unfortunately, Steve had to wait until Thursday night for his first bite when he managed a recently stocked fish at 12lb. With something much bigger in mind Steve reset and went again keeping to the tactic he knows and managed to snare another come Saturday morning one now known as the ‘Cold Common’ at 32lb. Hopefully we see that big girl next time Steve.

Last up this week we have Liam Atkins who got ball 9 in the draw and spent the beginning of his trip fishing Pole Position but the fish just weren’t there, then was quickly on the move when Co’s Point became available. Deciding on the famous tits landmark, Liam went 30 wraps and straight in with 5kg of house maize and roughly a kilo of boilie mixed in. With three on the spot Liam was using D rigs with match the hatch dumbbell wafters topped with yellow corn. Liam left it late this week and managed all of his fish the final night, landing four in the shape of ‘Welsh Wizard’ at 24lb, ‘Smackers’ at 26lb and two unnamed fish which are now known as ‘Bionic’ at 21lb and ‘Pidge’ at 30lb. After a tough week Liam was thrilled with his last night’s action although he now had the long drive home to do on no sleep.

Unfortunately, it was a dry week on the PB wall for this week, hopefully it’s back with a bang next week.

Tight Lines,

Greg.
