Week Commencing: Sat 30/11/2024

Put a log on the fire

This week we welcomed a biannual lake exclusive group of 10 anglers from the west country, all excited to get the rods out and enjoy a week off.

Biggest of the week always goes first which is where Dom Leech comes in. Down in Tree Line Dom got off the mark first night to a fish that’s not been for 18 months known as ‘Sasquash’ at 52lb 8oz also a new French PB for Dom. After a couple of weeks with no new PB’s it was good to see some of the bigger fish coming out again. Dom caught this fish on a solid bag fishing 22 wraps to the taller tree along the tree line containing Bug mix and a Bug hook bait. Unfortunately, that was Dom’s only fish of the week, but a cracking fish at that.

Next up, Alex Stanley who managed to get himself in Co’s Point after coming out high in the draw. Using a base mix of crumbed Creamino, house hemp and corn, fishing yellow IB Corn topped match the hatch bottom baits on a lead clip setup, he was fishing out at 30 wraps to the “Tits”. Alex was also soon off the mark catching on the first night a 33lb mirror then just had to rinse and repeat as he was then getting steady bites throughout the week catching three Sunday night including ‘M.C’ and the biggest being ‘The Chinese’ at 44lb 4oz which ended up being his biggest of the week. Come Tuesday a brace of 25lbers were in the sling for Alex including a newly named ‘Blueberry’ and one known as ‘Dinnaa’. Ending the week with eleven fish, Alex had a good week managing to name a couple on the way giving him the opportunity to track and maybe someday catch.

David Knight is next who was plotted up in Big Southerly and fishing out towards Alcatraz had to battle through the weather to get his first and only fish of the week, having a take in the middle of the night during a storm, catching a fish he suitably named as ‘Gail Force’ at 23lb 4oz. David was fishing a corn and boilie mix with yellow topped match the hatch bottom baits.

Last up we had Miles Nut who got himself in Alcatraz and opted to fish the right-hand side of his water at 28 wraps towards The Stink. Choosing to go with a straight boilie approach, it wasn’t until the last morning Miles got off the mark landing ‘The Constructor’ at 31lb. Glad to avoid the blank I’m sure he went away happy.

A slow but enjoyable week this week apart from the wet end. We look forward to your next trip guys, hopefully see you in 26.

Tight Lines,

Greg.
