Week Commencing: Sat 07/12/2024
Winter’s certainly here
Winter is well and truly here at Gigantica. With the cold pushing in and the nights at their longest we were down to a maximum of eight this week for the winter.
Starting in Big Southerly where we had Steve Bardens, who came out third in the draw, and took the decision for the first night to just fish singles using yellow pineapple pop ups on stiff hinge rigs. Steve started fishing one down to his left towards the snag at 14 wraps and two out towards Alcatraz at 25.5 wraps, it was Steve’s left-hand rod that was away the first night where he had ‘Little Toperooni’ at 38lb 7oz. Unfortunately, that was Steve’s only fish this week.
Next up and last, we have Tom Tebbutt who drew ball seven in the draw and chose to go in Oblivion, a swim he had fished before on a previous trip. Tom started the week fishing a couple of spots, one 30 wraps at Alcatraz and the other 32 towards Bob’s Beach. Going light on the bait to start with using boilie crumb and hemp and aiming to gage where the fish were before committing to a spot, Tom managed his first and only fish of the week on Sunday night where he had ‘Lucifa’ at 33lb coming from his spot towards Alcatraz.
A very slow week here this week at Gigantica, with the fish still very active and a warmer break in the weather on the way, we can only hope it improves soon.
Tight lines.
Greg,
