Week Commencing: Sat 18/01/2025
Cold, Cold and Cold
With it being the start of January I suppose we should accept some proper wintery weather, and this week certainly delivered this.
With temperatures dropping down to as low as minus 7c at the start of the week it made the venue look like a true winter wonderland. Freezing fog did not help either for the first couple of days, making casting out or even baiting up accurately extremely difficult or nye on impossible.
With a group of 7 anglers on this week, the walk around done and everyone settled into their respective swims we were off and running for a new week.
Winter fishing can truly be a tough time and sadly that is exactly what this week was to the guys.
Even though with milder temperatures for the later part of the week and fish activity being minimal across the whole lake nothing managed to make an appearance on the bank.
Everyone tried everything they could this week to try to save a blank all around, but it just was not meant to be.
Most anglers had a go with the zigs as well just to try and nick one, they tried various depths from 3ft off the deck to 2/3rds depth when we had the sun come out and make an appearance. Other tactics were tried from solid bags to the normally every reliable spinner rig’s and little yellow hook baits.
Every angler was sensible with the baiting approach, in that no one baited heavily, with the lack of action on the deck.
It was nice to see some regular faces this week and a couple of new faces thrown in the mix as well, and great that despite the fishing they are both eager to get back out to the big G.
It was great that everyone still had a good time and social despite the fishing being quiet.
The weather looks a bit more favourable next week so fingers crossed we will see some fish banked by the anglers.
Until next time, tight lines all.
