Carp Fishing Socials – Week 1

This week we welcomed Carp Fishing Socials for their lake exclusive

First up this week we have Dan Hobson who got himself into Oblivion this week. Due to there being a good bit of weed in the swim, Dan made sure to have a good lead about on the Saturday ensuring he had confidence in where he was fishing. Settling on 15 wraps towards Bob’s Beach with two rods and one at the same range towards Alcatraz, Dan was using combi rigs with match the hatch hook baits over a bed of house hemp and fishmeal boilie. It was a slow start for Dan, but he was confident knowing the weather ahead should bring the fish to him, and he was right as come Wednesday evening Dan was into his first fish and ended up being the biggest fish of the week, ‘Long Spot’ at 49lb 8oz. Dan went on to have two more the next day having ‘Blue Army’ at 25lb and ‘J1R’ at 29lb but then they seemed to move off him.

Down in The Stink we had old friend and regular Chris Clarkewho came out mid draw. Opting to go three on a spot Chris leaded up around the 30-wrap mark and settled at that towards the right-hand side of Baxter’s Hole. Baiting up with a fishmeal boilie house hemp, and house pellet he fished D-rigs or a solid bag over the top. Chris was off the mark the first night having an unnamed fish at 26lb then went on to have regular bites including ‘Hard Graft’ at 27lb 8oz ‘Linzeeee Woooo’ at 29lb 12oz, his biggest of the week ‘The Ingot’ at 36lb along with a couple he got to name himself like ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ at 23lb 8oz. It then slowed up on Thursday and unfortunately, that was the last of the action for Chris, but we look forward to your next trip.

Roy Prodger was opposite and got himself in Bob’s Beach and was also off to a flyer landing ‘Baby Chocco’ on his first night at 38lb 4oz then followed it up the next day with a lovely 33lb 8oz common which is yet to be named. Deciding to fish off the recent regular spots in Bob’s Beach Roy had a good lead about on the Saturday and found a patch of weed 24 wraps towards the right-hand side of The Alamo and chose to fish tight to that fishing blowback rigs with match the hatch or tipped snowmen over a bed of house hemp and Mainline boilie.

Thomas Leroy is next, who was in Big Girls for the week and was another who was off to a great start getting 3 bites on the Sunday evening just on dark, all within an hour he managed ‘AJ’s’ at 35lb and ‘Shmokin’ at 39lb 12oz all coming on one rod he was fishing 26 wraps just off the spit, fishing match the hatch Cell over a bed of straight boilie on D-rigs. With the weather looking perfect and the wind pushing right in the bay the fish just didn’t seem to get in the bay in their numbers, and unfortunately that was it for Thomas.

Long returning customer Scott Larman was in Alcatraz for his first of his two-week trip, and having never fished the swim before, was looking forward to the week ahead. After good inspection of his swim, he settled on 2 rods at 29 wraps towards the scary tree and 27 just to the left of The Stink with the other. Fishing over a bed of straight Royal Marine boilie, Scott fished spinners on yellow isotonic pop ups and match the hatch tipped with maize hook baits and after losing one early on in the week and a couple of small ones through the night, it was Wednesday morning when Scott had a better fish that weeded him up but kept steady pressure and it freed itself revealing ‘Jayden’ at 42lb. Scott went on to land one more later in the week at 22lb through the night and ended the week on 4 fish.

Finally, we had Sam Leeson who went into Baxter’s Hole. Sam had a very tough start to the week fishing down his right margin losing two fish early on from tight in the corner and with his open water spot not seeing much life it seemed like his best option was the corner. Not getting himself down from 2 lost fish Sam kept doing what he was doing, trickling small amounts of bait in the corner, consisting of boilie and house particle, and using a baiting spoon to get it just right. After all of Sams consistence he finally managed to land one straight after dinner on Friday night an unnamed common at 33lb and was just happy to not go home with a blank. We hope to see you back for more.

So, a tough week this week with none of our giants making an appearance, we hope they’re not too far away.

Tight Lines,

Greg,

Team Gigantica.
