Week Commencing: Sat 26/07/2025
Swedish Carping
First up this week we start in Pole Position where we had Russ. After previous weeks success, Russ decided to follow suit in fishing this swim short, fishing 16 wraps towards The Alamo. It was a slow start for Russ but come Wednesday night around midnight he had his first and only bite of the week and smashed his PB with ‘Shoulders’ a fish that had been out recently but had stuck 2lbs back on coming out at 67lb. Fishing over a bed of Live System boilie Russ fished a white tipped match the hatch hook bait over the top.
Tobias is up next who was fishing in Big Southerly after coming out midway in the draw. Tobias started his week fishing 16 wraps towards Alcatraz and 14 wraps down towards the snag at The Alamo. After watching the fish activity for the first night Tobias then moved his left-hand rod and tied up a fresh solid bag loaded with pellet and an 18mm bottom bait topped white a white piece of pop-up corn, then casted it toward where he’d been seeing them, around 14/15 wraps towards the clubhouse. Around 4am Monday morning he was into his first fish, one of our ‘class of 2017’ ‘Parker’ at a new top weight of 61lb 8oz and a new personal best for Tobias, also earning him a spot on the famous clubhouse wall. Keeping two rods on his baited spot but carrying on with the single solid bag method, Tobias was away again the following night and after having a big common he was into one of the original scalies this time in the shape of ‘The Cheese’ at 51lb then backed it up with a mid 30 the same night. Tobias’s week was made. That was it for him this week, but Tobias went away happy with two framed shots to remember his trip by.
Opposite in Bob’s Beach this week we had Sam Wyatt who came out high in the draw and after the previous week’s report, was a good place to start. Going straight in on the inform spot, Sam started fishing 18 wraps towards The Alamo. Going in with boilie and house particle, Sam fished snowmen over the top for the first couple of nights and managed to land ‘3rd Tim Lucky’ at 39lb 12oz but same as Tobias, was seeing them show just off his baited spot and short, he then cast a single solid bag to them loaded with pellet and spicy squid goo. Come Tuesday night in the early hours of darkness, the solid bag was off and after a slow battle, Sam had a new PB in the net ‘Pierre Cardin’ at 58lb 8oz. Sam ended his trip on 6 fish with the majority coming on his solid bag and ended his trip with a mid 20 the final morning.
Next door in Tree Line we had Dan who came out late in the draw and had the choice of there or Baxter’s Hole and made what he could of his swim. After putting bait in the hole in the Tree line at 21 wraps and it not being touched for a couple of days, Dan then moved off the tree line and concentrated on the open water spots. Dan fished two rods out towards The Stink at 20 wraps and after seeing fish show at 14 wraps midway through the week, put a rod at 14 wraps towards The Alamo with a scattering of 50 odd baits round it with a throwing stick and come Thursday around midday was into his only fish of the week, but what a fish it was ‘Pecs’ at 41lb a fish that had not been out for over 3 years.
Across the pond in Oblivion, we had James who was made up to get in one of his top choice of swims after its recent form. Going in at 25 wraps towards Bob’s Beach, James was putting out a sloppy mix including hemp, boilie, corn and matching boilie base mix, fishing 3 spinners with white pop ups over the top. Dan ended his week on 10 fish biggest being 41lb 4oz including the Exocet.
Janne is next opposite in Stock Pond. Janne started the week fishing two spots having two rods towards the corner at 20 then one at 17.5 at Oblivion but later in the week moved one to his right-hand margin after seeing several fish show, producing his biggest fish of the week ‘Growler’ at 44lb 8oz when he also had ‘Little Rump at 26lb. fishing over a bed of red fishmeal boilie and house pellet, Janne chopped and changed through hook baits with white and match the hatch seeming to produce the bites. Janne ended his week on 6 fish and hopes to return in the future to see if he can get amongst the A Team.
Mattias found himself in The Stink this week and was off to a flyer landing two fish in his first night, the first one being an upper 40 mirror then just as that one slipped in the net, had ‘La Boheme’ at 53lb. Unfortunately, it was quiet from there as they just didn’t seem to return to his spot. Fishing very accurately at 28 wraps to the right of Baxter’s Hole Mattias went straight fishmeal boilie with white topped snowmen over the top but just couldn’t get anything else going in his boundary. Hopefully more to come on your next trip.
Chris is last up this week and managed to get himself in his favoured swim The Alamo. Starting off fishing long at 30 wraps towards the W in the trees, he was another one who had the fish turn up on him short later in the week, so then moved on to solid bags and ended the week on 5 fish with the biggest being ‘Archimedes’ at 38lb 4oz.
A tough week for some and a little action for almost everyone the lake didn’t do the numbers we’d hoped this week but still produced some of its amazing fish.
Tight Lines,
Greg.
